It was a very popular place as we got there at 1pm. There was a menu posted outside and you wait in line and order your food at the cashier. The tables are first come first serve outside so I noticed some people who got their food but did not have a table to sit. Some tables were occupied by people with their laptops which I can only assume they had order coffee and just sat there. I got the beef tartare and it was pretty tasty. Flavor was there and I was surprised at how much tartare I was given. We also got the avocado confit and it was loaded with so much. It was light on flavor and paired well with the bread that came with it. The schnitzel to me, tasted like a chicken katsu. Overall very tasty!

This is chef Jordan Kahn's breakfast and lunch spot in Culver City's architecturally unique Hayden Tract. Chef Kahn is known for a high aesthetic quotient in the appearance of his restaurants as well as his food and its presentation. His 2-Michelin-starred restaurant Vespertine is across the street from Destroyer, occupying its own striking building. Destroyer operates as a fast casual place where you order inside and your food is brought to your table. There are also food supplies, wine and beverages for sale inside. All dining is outdoors. While some of the menu's dishes have their roots in "diner" food (ie, oatmeal, French toast, avocado toast, soups and salads), their fancy ingredients and beautiful plating elevate each dish far beyond. This elevation is echoed in the pricing. I was here for breakfast, so I ordered 2 dishes and took leftovers home. I ordered an oolong tea, which of course was presented in a beautiful stoneware carafe with a matching cup. The carafe had no lid, so the tea got cold pretty fast. My first dish was the loaded avocado confit, an amped-up avocado toast that came in a bowl with the bread alongside. The confit had cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, burrata, arugula and puffed rice along with the avocado. Fantastic! $23. I also ordered their version of French toast, which was a thick slice of toasted (and I think a bit bruleed) country bread with a bowl of Satsuma tangerines, kumquats, papaya jam and whipped creme fraiche alongside, as well as a small pitcher of vanilla-tonka maple syrup. Also fantastic, and $22. The fruits served with this dish are seasonal, as I noticed in past Yelp photos. A delicious, decadent and somewhat pricey breakfast. Their lunch offerings are also above and beyond. Parking was a challenge and is probably more so later in the day.

Destroyer is phenomenal when it comes to its food and environment. There is not a flaw in sight when enjoying their unique dishes. Food aside, you will also likely be impressed with how stunning this operation is on a visual level, it's a chic and modern oasis in the midst of warehouses and other nondescript buildings. Staff is friendly but not outstanding. Standout dishes: the porridge and tart. I couldn't get enough of either.

I'm so glad I tried Destroyer. I ordered literally almost everything on the menu and I loved everything. All the dishes were unique. The chicken schnitzel was supposedly the most popular dish, but I actually enjoyed all the other dishes more. Yes, the restaurant is expensive, but you're going to be in for a treat. It's worth it. Ordering is easy. You decide what you want order and then you pay for it. Get your number, and then you go find a table. Do your research ahead of time so that you're not holding up the line. 1. Overnight Oats: it comes in a cute bowl. I'm not sure what the cold round thing is on top but it adds a cold component. On the bottom of the oats are sour currants and either a peanut or almond butter. Everything is perfect. A must order. 2. Chicken Schnitzel: it was a solid dish, but I feel like all the other dishes were much more more unique. The kids loved the chicken. 3. Beet Salad: so good. You're gonna definitely get all of your healthy antioxidant veggies. 3. Duck Confit: with crispy duck skin. The duck is perfect. It comes with his green pesto sauce, which is also really good. The bread is crunchy and everything about the sandwich is delicious. Definitely shareable. 4. Porridge: this is probably one of my favorite dishes. I'm Asian and I love porridge, but sometimes I feel porridges are too plain. This one is almost like a risotto/porridge. I love the flavors of the black garlic along the sides of the bowl. On the bottom of the porridge are lots of leeks. This is a five star dish. I've never had a dish like this in my life. A must order if you don't mind the carbs. 5. Red Gem Salad: I like the slight bitterness of the salad and then in the middle is caramelized onions with a not-too-cheesy cream thing. It's so creative. I would order this salad again for just myself. 6. Beef tartare: the beef tartare was really delicious as well. It had small mushrooms and a bunch of other healthy ingredients that was so good. I appreciate the creativity. 6. The Sesame latte and Ube latte were both good but not super amazing. I'm not as excited about the drinks as I am with the dishes. Maybe it's because my drink wasn't hot enough. 7. I ordered the chocolate cookie with almonds, corn cookie, chocolate and hazelnut bar, and fruity jam shortbread bar. The stand outs were probably the two cookies. I've never had a corn cookie this good. I've also never had a chocolate cookie with this much almond and still taste good.

Tucked in this inconspicuous neighborhood, I really love this place! The street is pretty quiet with mostly business buildings around. Across the way is where the unique building that Michelin-starred, Vespertine, is at. We love coming here to grab a coffee and walk around. The last time we were here in the summer, something was being filmed across at Freddi's China closet. I wonder what it was! All the employees there are nice ( & you might want to go a little earlier to avoid waiting in a long line) You line up to order and they'll give you a number and you'll find your own open table. Note they only have outside seating, but it's actually really nice because the neighborhood is so quiet and the lighting outside makes for good food pictures! We ordered the avocado confit and the duck confit on ciabatta. At first we were hesitant on ordering the duck sandwich, but I am so glad we did. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had!! Super flavorful and creamy with the spread. The avocado confit was just as nice. It was nice and light, and didn't feel too heavy with the duck sandwich. They had a new drink (seasonal?) on the menu: ube and lavender latter and it was sooo pretty and good too! Looking forward to many more visits here!

You order inside and sit at one of the many tables outside. There's is a lot of parking available on the street. Food is a little pricey, but you can tell with the presentation and fresh ingredients. My fav was the chicken schnitzel and the loaded avocado confit (bread was soo good). Would definitely come back!

destroyer reminds of food in the hunger games, as silly as it sounds (esp the sourdough in the persimmon french toast) - they def have neutral grey bare bones brutalist vibes going on here as the name suggests. interestingly enough, the creamy beef tartare was more like tuna to me but twas very delicious! to me, some of the individual ingredients wouldn't taste that great alone but the harmony of the creamy tartare, quinoa, vinegary chips and tarragon worked well. service was nice and pretty prompt, felt like the schnitzel could use some sort of dipping sauce and more flavor. i'd return to try some more hunger games styled food as an avid hg fan. unmetered street parking was easy on sunday afternoon!

(as of October 2024) I've been wanting to try this place for months and finally had the opportunity while in the area. I ordered the loaded avocado confit and the sweet corn porridge, both of which were 10/10. The ingredients are high quality and fresh, and many of the menu offerings avoid the whole processed-meat, extra additives, and extraneous chemicals to make the food either taste better or look better. You are definitely getting what your pay for. The spot is designed with a minimal touch, with neutral colors and a small interior mostly for ordering and taking to-go.

Destroyer is chef Jordan Kahn's take on a cafe. The place is good looking like all of chef Kahn's establishments but this is his most casual spot he has in Los Angeles. There's plenty of street parking and there's seating outside. We went for breakfast and the food is very very tasty so highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Highly Recommend: Rose Latte Chocolate Chip Cookie Persimmon French Toast Courgette And Fresh Cheese Tart Can't wait to go back to try some of the other items on the menu.
